NEW 2011-2012 PTO BOARD!

BKS PTO Officers

Cheriann O'Connor
Co-President

Married to Mike O'Connor and we have 2 beautiful children. We have a son in 4th and a daughter in 1st.  My goal is to help make my children's school experience everything it can be. The way I chose to do that was by attending PTO Meetings and becoming PTO Board Secretary in 2007.  Today I am Co-President of the PTO Board and enjoy being a part of it all for my child and yours. I am a product of the Quincy Public school system and I believe in it.  I also believe parents and teachers need to work as a team to successfully raise/educate our children. That is what the PTO is all about. Thank you for this privilege.

Christine Swierk Murphy
Co-President

I have one child at Beechwood Knoll School and was very impressed with the teachers, the school and the BKS community upon our arrival in 2007. I agreed to serve on the board as a Vice-Chair in 2008 and I’ve continued to do so since then. As a grateful BKS parent and graduate of the Quincy Public Schools, it’s my pleasure to volunteer my time, creativity, and leadership to our board. BKS/PTO continues to enhance the childrens’ school experience by facilitating great events and providing wonderful opportunities, and I enjoy being a part of a team of parents and teachers who work diligently to help create lasting and happy memories for our children.

Lynda Segal-Cronin
Vice President

I am the mother of two girls, Molly who is in 4th grade and Celia who started Kindergarten this Fall. I have been active in the PTO since Molly's first year at Beechwood Knoll. Currently, I am an English tutor and a substitute teacher. When I am not focused on PTO activities I am co-leading a Girl Scout Daisy troop. Being an active PTO member is my way of giving back to such a great school and its dedicated teachers.

Jenne Travers
Treasurer

I came to Quincy about 6 years ago (from Brooklyn NY) and settled here with my husband Michael. I love my adopted hometown and I am proud and happy to live here! My daughter Cassidy started Kindergarten this year at BKS and becoming a member of the PTO is something I have always looked forward to. I am excited to take on the Treasurer position and enjoying many happy years here. I work for Brigham and Womens Hospital and in my spare time I am an artist and musician. I love my volunteer time with the Girl Scouts (as a Lifetime member) and Girls Rock Campaign Boston.

Tracy Pickering
Publicity Director

I have 2 children at Beechwood Knoll School, Jack in first grade and Grace in Kindergarten.  A lifetime Quincy resident and graduate of Quincy Public Schools, my husband John and I purchased our home for the very reason that our children would be in the BKS school district.  I am honored to be a part of such a wonderful community who truly care about each other and the future of our children.  It is my privilidge to be a member of the BKS PTO.

Susan Porter
Secretary

For over 14 years, I held a variety of marketing positions in financial services. In 2007, I embarked on a new adventure – stay at home mom! I have really enjoyed getting involved in the BKS community over the past year, spending time in my son Theo’s classroom and volunteering for a number of programs. I am excited to bring my marketing expertise to my role as PTO secretary and look forward to a great year!
